Weekly cash and bills-due report from Xero (Make)

Every Monday, pull your Xero bank balances and the bills due in the next 7 days into one draft email.

Steps

1. Schedule the scenario weekly, e.g. Monday at 7am.
2. Add Xero → 'Make an API Call' with GET /2.0/Reports/BankSummary to get each bank account's closing balance.
3. Add Xero → 'Make an API Call' with GET /2.0/Invoices, query where = Type=="ACCPAY" AND Status=="AUTHORISED" and order = DueDate. These are approved bills awaiting payment.
4. For the bank table: Iterator over the report rows, then Text aggregator to build one line per account (name and closing balance).
5. For bills: Iterator over the invoices, a filter that keeps only bills with a due date between today and addDays(now; 7), then a Text aggregator listing supplier, bill number, due date, and amount due.
6. Add Microsoft 365 Email → 'Create a Draft Email' addressed to yourself with both tables in the body. Leave it as a draft and review it before forwarding to anyone.

Tips

• Xero connection: Make's default Xero connection can fail with invalid_scope. Open Show advanced settings and pick only these scopes: accounting.transactions.read, accounting.reports.read, accounting.settings.read, accounting.contacts.read.
• Payroll tax bills that appear in Xero's Awaiting payment list are not returned by the Invoices API, so they won't show up in this report. Check those separately.
• If no bills are due that week, the bills branch outputs nothing and no draft is created. Add a fallback route if you want an email every week regardless.
• Try it on Xero's Demo Company first so you can compare the output to Xero's own reports.

Tested: Tested against Xero's Demo Company (US): bank summary balance, 7 bills due this week totaling 2,467.30, and 12 bills awaiting payment totaling 7,401.86 all matched Xero exactly; a draft was created, not sent.

Steps are based on the vendor docs as of Oct 2026; verify module names in your account. Apps rename triggers and actions sometimes. Try it with test data or a sandbox company first.
